Living In Our Area
Pinehurst is situated in southern Moore County, 70 miles south of Raleigh and 90 miles west of Charlotte.
Beyond geography, it is the serene quality of life that has drawn families for generations to our region. Developed first as a health resort by James Walker Tufts, nearly 220,000 trees were planted among native pines in the late 19th century, offering year-round blooms and an evergreen environment. The result is a walkable community where the air is still crisp and stars can still be seen at night.
While most are drawn to world-renowned Pinehurst Resort, the neighborhoods in the Village of Pinehurst, Southern Pines, Aberdeen and beyond offer community living in a wide price range. Ask about areas where young families, retirees, second home purchases, horse farms to lakeside living, farmlad to golf course living are most known, and you’ll be on your way to finding a home just right for you.
Community Resources
Sandhills Community College offers a strong undergraduate program, vibrant continuing education offerings and year-round entertainment. The region frequently hosts musical groups such as the North Carolina Symphony, and community gatherings for outdoor festivals, concerts, live theatre, farmers markets and more.
A Top 100 ranked hospital in America, FirstHealth/Moore Regional Hospital offers an entire medical community of specialty services, oncology, rehabilitation and community wellness programs that put citizens at ease.
The area is also less than 1.5 hours’ drive from such well-known educational and health institutions as Duke, UNC-Chapel Hill, and NC State. Here are a few quick links to get you acclimated to living the North Carolina heartland:
